Dear Prayer Partners
“Chewing on the phone”. This is a Japanese expression meaning spending a long time on the phone. I was doing that most of the day recently but at last managed to book our covid vaccinations for June. With vaccinations ramping up in Japan our church activities will become a lot easier. The government doesn’t impose any compulsory restrictions on our work but Japanese are naturally very cautious. Widespread vaccinations will help our ministry. We are also hoping to get back to UK in July/August to see family.
Please pray for the believers. Some are as keen as ever. A few are so frightened of the virus that they haven’t attended for over a year and although we have made every effort to send them sermon recordings etc, it is hard to believe that this hasn’t had some effect on their spiritual fervour. It will be a few months yet before vaccinations are completed and we can return to normal.
Please pray for the routine weekly teaching and preaching on which so much depends in the church life. Special events are evangelistic bible studies (3rd and 10th) and Sunday chapel at Gamo on 20th, Hallelujah service at Yamamoto on 17th, mini-concert at Yuriage on 19th. Please pray for good attendance and conversions. We often have cooking classes and craft events which unsurprising attract only women. Perhaps we should have things which are more ‘manly’. Something like, “Hey guys, come to our carburettor repair workshop”? We want to tell ALL the glorious gospel of Christ!
Esther successfully had baby Reuben on 27 April.
Thank you for your prayers and support!
