The world has been experiencing “lockdown” for one year now. This time last year we were left stranded in New Zealand until the end of April. As we look back, we are constantly amazed by the “providential provision” of the Lord. We are reminded of the words of Romans 8:28 “for we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose” (E.S.V.) What an encouragement to know that we have been called of God and our love for him is a response to that call. We also know without a shadow of doubt that wherever we are and no matter what is happening God is Sovereign and will use it for His glory and our good.
Praise: During this past month we were able to enjoy a lovely break when we went away to celebrate our 43rd wedding anniversary at a place on the north coast. We enjoyed three days of walking on the beach, swimming / paddling in the sea and watching movies.
We have also used this time to catch up on visits with friends who have been our prayer supporters for many years. Richard and Rachel Uys who live in Durban North and run a “Baby Home” and Peter and Helen Booysen who live in Scottburgh and who we have known longer that Casi has been alive! (they were in our Phalaborwa church).
It has been great to preach in church buildings again. Andy has preached at Idwala (Paddock) and Pinetown. It is humbling to see people longing for physical contact greet one another at a distance.
Pray for us as we plan for the months that lie ahead. The preaching appointments that were planned for Pinetown Baptist during April and the Missions Weekend at Scottsville Baptist planned for the end of April were cancelled but Andy will be preaching at Scottsville Baptist on the 25th of April when we will spend a few days in the Pietermaritzburg area visiting with friends and family. We have not seen some of them since before lockdown.
Pray regarding the Easter weekend as this is a time when our Zionist churches love gathering in large numbers. However, that will not happen this year, so pray for wisdom as we guide and advise the church leaders.
Pray for our area where we live. We have struggled without regular water supply since January. Which gets exacerbated by load shedding when we have no power. The situation got so bad that the local civic leaders appealed to the national Minister of Water Affairs and others reacted by protesting and blocking off roads as well as by burning things and looting shops. One day it was so bad that Casi could not travel back to Durban for work after visiting with us for a few days.
FAMILY NEWS: Carson is now at school every day while Raiden continues to attend every second week. We rejoice that Quintin is kept busy in his new business as the Lord provides work. Kirsten’s kids are on holiday over Easter and will be starting the second term on 13th of April, both received fantastic reports for the first term of 2021.
Thank you for your love and prayers.
