News From Damon & Gigi

We would firstly like to wish you a
Happy New Year!

2020 took us all by surprise and hit us with full force out of the blue! 2020 was unpredicted and unanticipated. We have now entered 2021 with much uncertainty in our hearts. I have therefore decided that the word for 2021 is UNCERTAINTY

But I do not view this in a negative way...
Uncertainty is not comfortable, it forces us out of our comfort zones and forces us into the unknown.

Fear, uncertainty and discomfort are your compasses to growth. - Unknown
Uncertainty can be a great time for growth and expanding our witness and ministry for the glory of God. This might look different than we are use to but maybe that is exactly what God wants!

When nothing is sure, everything is possible - Margaret Drabble
Uncertainty allows room for anything. The world is your oyster as it were. You have the opportunity to try something new for the glory of God!

The truth is we cannot control what this year will look like but we can commit each day to the Lord asking for His will for it and then live it out!

I want to encourage you this year to EMBRACE uncertainty.  Some of the most beautiful chapters in life can be birthed in the womb of uncertainty.

You were born for such a time as this!
- Esther 4:14

You crown the year with Your goodness, And Your paths drip with abundance. Psalm 65:11
Looking back:

Holiday & Family
Damon and I are very thankful to the Lord for our time in Durban with our families. It has been a tough year for everyone and it was so lovely to spend quality time together: fishing, snorkeling, walking on the beach (when we were allowed), playing games,  watching movies & just being together. Our whole family (Damon's side & mine) came together on Christmas day and we spent the whole day together!
Holiday & Ministry
Damon had the opportunity to preach on the 27th of December at Fynnland Baptist Church on the topic: God's great gift. He is also currently doing online sermons for them about once or twice a month. Damon also had the opportunity to lead worship one Sunday morning while I joined the singers. This was such a blessed time of worship & learning from God's word together.
Damon and I also celebrated our 5th year wedding anniversary on the 22nd of December 2020. We really are thankful to God for each other and really look forward to the many more years we can celebrate together!
Prayer Request:  Please pray for our marriage. Pray that our marriage would always reflect the glory of God and His relationship with His bride - the church.
Looking forward:
Damon and I arrived back from Durban on the 9th of January 2021. We are self-isolating and currently working from home till Monday the 18th of January - just to be safe.
Baptist Union
God willing in May 2021, the Baptist Union will be holding another set of interviews which Damon will be applying for.
Prayer Request:  Please pray and already commit this interview to the Lord. Pray that the Lord would prepare Damon's heart as well as all those involved. Pray above all for God's will to be done.
In August last year, as you know I went to the Doctor and was told that I have something called PCOS (Polycystic ovary syndrome). It is a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. It is chronic and can really only be dealt with by a certain way of eating to balance out my hormones and it must become a lifestyle. This is something we are really focusing on as we would like to start a family in the near future together. Damon has been very supportive and has joined me in the lifestyle change. We have seen a lot of improvement already in my health, which we praise God for.
Prayer Request: Thank God for the progress we have already seen in my health. Please pray for my health and for me to be disciplined. Pray that in the Lord's perfect timing He would grant us the opportunity to be parents.
Our roles at INcontext
Damon will continue to be Project Manager and do member care for over 70+ families in 26 different countries. I will still be helping out in the communications department (writing the Pray for the Nations and compiling the weekly email that goes out.) I will also continue to focus on Generation Next and our social media platforms. We also hope to start travelling again this year - so the travel department should start picking up momentum as well. God willing we plan on taking a group of young adults to Tanzania to visit the INcontext office and church there, we will also go over to Zanzibar which is 98% Muslim. We thought this would be a great exposure for young adults to the Muslim world.
Prayer Request: Please pray for our roles at INcontext. Please commit this trip to Tanzania & Zanzibar to the Lord. Pray that He would move those who He wants to join as well as for His provision for such a trip.
We have lost some financial supporters due to the tough year we have all had with Covid-19. However, we have never lacked anything we needed - we thank the Lord for this.
Prayer Request: Pray with us in regards to our finances and thank God for His provision in our lives.
On our hearts
Last year, the Lord began to lay a deep desire and longing in our hearts to do ministry full time in a congregational setting. We are trusting the Lord to open a door for Damon as a Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, or Senior Pastor at a congregation. We have shared this with the director of INcontext and he supports and acknowledges this call for when the time comes.
Prayer Request: Pray with us in regards to our future. Pray that we will be sensitive to the voice of God and that He would open the door He wants us to walk through.
