Dear friends and family,

We write this new letter to you from our home in Bellville during this lock down period.  We thank our God every time we remember you. In all our prayers for all of you, we always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now... (Adaption made from Phil 1:3-5). You are in our hearts and prayers during this time. Please let us know how we can pray for you.

Recently I was reminded of this little story below. I believe it describes the season we find ourselves in perfectly. There is opportunity everywhere to make a difference for the glory of God – even if it is in one person's life.

“Once upon a time, there was an old man who used to go to the ocean to do his writing. He had a habit of walking on the beach every morning before he began his work. Early one morning, he was walking along the shore after a big storm had passed and found the vast beach littered with starfish as far as the eye could see, stretching in both directions.

Off in the distance, the old man noticed a small boy approaching.  As the boy walked, he paused every so often and as he grew closer, the man could see that he was occasionally bending down to pick up an object and throw it into the sea.  The boy came closer still and the man called out, “Good morning!  May I ask what it is that you are doing?”

The young boy paused, looked up, and replied “Throwing starfish into the ocean. The tide has washed them up onto the beach and they can’t return to the sea by themselves,” the youth replied. “When the sun gets high, they will die, unless I throw them back into the water.”   The old man replied, “But there must be tens of thousands of starfish on this beach. I’m afraid you won’t really be able to make much of a difference.”

The boy bent down, picked up yet another starfish and threw it as far as he could into the ocean. Then he turned, smiled and said, “It made a difference to that one!”

Work:

Damon and I have been working from home over the lock down period, since we are mainly a media ministry - work goes on as usual. Damon has continued member care to about 70 partners on the field. I have been updating our social media platforms, writing the prayer for the nations as well as daily devotions.

Please pray for us to be focused and that our work will always be done in excellence.

Travel:

As you know with COVID-19 and the impact it has had all over the world - travel is banned. We have therefore cancelled all of our group trips for the year. But as staff - if we are led and travel bans lifted, we can still do member care visits to the field much later in the year.

Please pray for missionaries and believers on the field during these challenging times.

Uganda Feedback:

On the 7th of March we had a Uganda Feedback session. It was extremely blessed. The young adults that joined us on the trip to Uganda last year shared how the Lord had touched them deeply, how He used them as well as some of the needs in the refugee camp they visited. This was such a God filled time together!

Please pray for the Lords provision and health for those living in Uganda due to food shortages, locust plagues as well as COVID-19.

Zoom Calls:

Damon and I have had the wonderful privilege of starting a zoom devotional and prayer time with our family. We meet twice a week (Wednesday and Friday). This is such a beautiful way for us to spend time together and speak into each others lives.

Please pray that we will all grow in the Lord during these times and that His salvation will reign in the hearts of our families.

Going deeper:

I have recently stared up a WhatsApp group of about 16 young ladies from across the world. The purpose of this group is to go deeper with each other as well as the Lord – fulfilling the Great Commandment to Love the Lord and to Love each other.

Please pray for wisdom in running such a group. Please pray for the Lord to work deeply in our hearts drawing us closer to HIM first as well as each other.

Far Above Rubies:

I have recently started up a personal blog and YouTube channel. You can find the links below:

Blog:

Please pray that these materials would reach whoever the Lord wants it to reach and that it will be a blessing.

Thank you for all of you love, prayers and support – we appreciate you so much.

Love Damon & Gigi
