Call to Prayer                                                                                 February 2020

Dear Prayer Partners,

Yours in Royal Service

Henry & Sonia
We are living in changing and uncertain times. We have experienced so much that has changed in the world over the past few months. I wonder how many of us have been involved in conversations along the line, ‘who would have thought last year this time that…’ ...that we all would be walking around wearing face masks everywhere in public, etc., etc!

The one constant for us as Christians is God. He is still God, He is sovereign and in His providence we embrace all that He has allowed in our lives. He is our loving God Who has our best interest at heart. His purpose remains the same and we continue to serve Him.

So, some radical changes have happened in our lives. We would invite you to contact us if you want all the detail, but to keep this letter and news to prayer letter length and not a book, we will simply share some of the changes.

Our ministry with SIM to migrants in Europe and victims of human trafficking is reduced to helping with the processes and procedures from South Africa only. A new team continues to develop in Europe, expanding the ministry, but our involvement is limited to what we can do virtually.

While we remain part of SIM, we have become involved in migrant and anti-human trafficking ministry with Plumstead Baptist Church in Cape Town. The church has now extended a call to us to fill the vacant pastoral position in the church and SIM has agreed to second us to the church.

This coming Sunday, the 4th of October, we will be inducted into the pastorate of Plumstead Baptist. Please be in prayer for us as we enter this phase of ministry. This seems to be an overwhelming task and we need your prayers now, more than ever.

Broadly, we will have 3 main areas of focus. Each one can be broken down into many, many aspects of ministry demands.

1. As pastor of the church, all the ‘normal’ church ministries and related matters need to be attended to.
2. Migrant ministry in Europe and South Africa has many aspects that need urgent
development and attention.
3. Anti-human trafficking is a desperately tragic fact. One of the biggest needs is advocacy. For this we will need to buidl a team with various skills such as media and legal.

Over the next few months we will share more of the details in each of these ministry areas for prayer and, should the Lord lead you, for possible more involvement. As a prayer partner, you are already involved in the various opportunities God has led us into over the years. As a financial supporter you have helped cover expenses and provide in so many ways.

As we enter this new phase of ministry, we ask that you as our supporters will please continue to stand with us. We need your
prayers, we have no idea what lies ahead in terms of ministry opportunities, spiritual warfare, challenges and opportunities to share God’s love with broken desperate and spiritually lost people.

For now we ask that you focus your prayer on our new pastoral responsibilities as we step in from the 1st October and initially settle in. The Sunday school and children’s work need to be developed. The leadership and so many other aspects of this glorious  opportunity need encouragement and growth.
