Call to Prayer                                                                                 August 2020

Dear prayer partners

On our return from Europe in January we started our home assignment but due to Covid 19 had suspend our travels. We needed to do home assignment as our financial support is down by 35% and we have not reported back to most of our supporters for the past 4 years.

During the lockdown we have been drawn into migrant/refugee ministry in the Plumstead and Diepriver area. While involved in this, we have seen signs of human trafficking going on and have been looking into the need for ministry on this level in the area. Clearly there is a need for refugee and anti-human trafficking ministry, and we have made contact with organisations in the area. Our experience in these ministries over the past 4 years in Europe has been very helpful in many ways.

The local church, Plumstead Baptist Church has now extended a call to Pastor the church, giving focus not only to migrant/refugee ministry, anti-human trafficking ministry, but to focus on children’s ministry and helping the church grow into a multi-cultural congregation.

We will remain part of SIM SA. SIM SA has agreed to this new ministry
and we will work with the church under a mutual Memorandum of
Understanding (MOU).

In the light of various circumstance, especially the uncertainty of Covid 19 and the future, we have felt led to accept this invitation to ministry back in South Africa, starting on the 1st October.

We look forward with anticipation to this new phase in our ministry and what God is going to do through our partnership in ministry. We want to thank you for your incredible support over the many years past, not only financially but in prayer and encouragement.

We do hope to maintain our partnership with you as missionaries/pastor. We greatly value the spiritual support and prayers for us and our ministry.

The Plumstead congregation only has 6 members under 60 with an average age of 70. Most of the folk are retired on fixed incomes and in care home and many are unable to attend services on Sundays. At the same time, the Plumstead and Diepriver area has many families and the school are full.  All this indicates that it is a vibrant area with much potential for a church to grow in.

Should you have any questions or need more details, please feel free to contact us.

Yours in Christ

Henry & Sonia Jooste
