In the midst of a difficult, and for many a painful time, I pray you are finding strength and comfort in the Lord. The words of Psalm 91 have certainly been a help to many. Please let me know how I can pray for you.
As I have been reflecting on this lockdown period, I marvel at how the Lord prepared our ministry for this time, even though we did not realize it. I shared with you previously about how we started an online ministry – initially mainly to connect with people in closed countries. Later it became clear that many young people prefer this way of communicating, even if there is someone on their campus that could meet with them face-to-face.
The result is that during the last few years a lot of work has gone into uploading content, so that those with questions on Google search could land on our websites, enabling us to connect with them further if they are willing. At the same time some applications were developed, like e.g. the Jesus Film Project has an app that gives access to many short film clips. These can easily be shared with others as conversation starters. Over the last few years we have also seen explosive growth in the use of social media in our countries as smart phones became cheaper. This makes it easy to connect with many people on these social platforms.
When lockdowns hit most of our countries, we could therefore shift the whole ministry online and train our staff and volunteers in utilizing these resources to reach families at home. We called this project
based on Colossians 1:27
"To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory."
It has been so good to see our teams all working together in this project. We are seeing such creativity among our people and new leaders are emerging. Soon there were Zoom webinars and Instagram/Facebook broadcast on all sorts of topics aiming to address issues and connecting with people. Some WhatsApp clips went viral. We are overwhelmed with the response we are seeing. People have so many questions with this virus and are searching for truth and meaning in life. God is using this in an amazing way to draw people to Himself.
Now our focus for
has moved stronger into the follow-up and discipleship phase, although the outreach is continuing.
Please join us in giving thanks and glory to the Lord for every life that has been touched through this project and please pray with us for lasting fruit, that will in turn impact many others.
Thank you for your faithful part in this!
With love and prayers,
